LA Tech Hosts - men's short sleeve shirt

CHOUDRANT, La. - Louisiana Tech will host the 15-team Squire Creek Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Squire Creek Country Club.

The 54-hole event will be played on the par 72, 7,105-yard Squire Creek Golf Course located in Choudrant and will feature six teams ranked in the top 100 in the country, including No. 33 Middle Tennessee,No. 43 LSU and No. 45 Rice, No. 61 Arkansas State, No. 78 North Carolina-Greensboro and No. 97 Southeastern Louisiana.

"I am looking forward to this tournament," said Tech head coach Jeff Parks. "This is a very strong field that includes some of the top teams in the country. This will give our guys an opportunity to test their skills against a strong field."

The first two rounds will be played Monday starting with an 8 a.m. shotgun start followed by third and final round on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.

In addition to the Top 100 ranked teams entered in the tournament, the event will also feature teams from South Alabama, New Orleans, North Texas, Southern Miss, UALR, Jacksonville State, Stephen F. Austin, Troy, Sam Houston State and Louisiana Tech.

The field includes two former tournament champions in New Orleans (2008 champion) and Sam Houston State (2006 champion).

LA Tech head coach Jeff Parks said that all 10 of his golfers would compete in the event with the Bulldogs "A" team being made up of senior Matthew Harvey, sophomore Cody Santone, junior Clinton Shepard, sophomore Jonathan Bale and junior Cody Blankenship.

The Bulldogs Blue team will consist of sophomore Patrick Blunt, junior Timothy Byrd, freshman Sam Forgan, freshman Hayden Stephens and sophomore Joel Thelen.

Parks said the event is free and open to the general public to watch but reminded interested fans to wear proper golf attire. Fans are also reminded that they will be required to walk as carts are not available for use.
